John Lee Hancock In Talks To Make Of Mary Poppins Pic Saving Mr. Banks
EXCLUSIVE: The Blind Side helmer John Lee Hancock is within early talks with Disney to direct Saving Mr. Banks, the Kelly Marcel-scripted saga of methods Wally Disney fought a 14-year courtship to influence Australian author P.L. Travers to market him privileges to create a film from Mary Poppins. Disney is near an offer to get the Black List script, which is to establish with producer Alison Owen of Ruby Films. Disney appears an all natural spot for the script, thinking about the studio is the owner of many privileges from making the 1964 classic film that starred Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and David Tomlinson, the second who performed Mr. Banks within the film. This can be a hot project — names like Tom Hanks to experience Disney and Meryl Streep to experience Travers will be in the wind — and Disney’s intention would be to place it into production this season. One's heart of the script originates from how close Travers felt to her story of the nanny with magical forces. Mary Poppins was highly personal, and reflected struggles in their existence and her relationship together with her father, who died when she was 7. Disney finally convinced her to allow him result in the film, but she was prickly completely towards the finish. While Mary Poppins was famous immediately, she hated the animated sequences within the film a lot that they declined to market any one of various other activly works to Disney. Hancock lately attached themself to create and direct The Partner at New Regency, in line with the John Grisham best-selling novel. He's repped by CAA.
